Huntington’s Disease

When I was a second year medical student, they brought in a patient with Huntington’s Disease. It was called Huntington’s Chorea in those days. The patient was in a wheelchair. She had a drawn haggard appearance. She had some uncontrollable movements. She looked much older than her age. Huntington’s Disease is an inherited disorder. It is dominant trait. Therefore, a parent will give it to approximately half of the children. The problem is that it usually does not begin to show up until the fourth decade of life between the ages 30 and 40. Mount Olivet Fall Soup and Pastry Sale is Nov. 2

Mount Olivet’s Fall Soup and Pastry sale is taking place on Nov. 2. Orders must be placed by Wednesday, Oct. 23. Eight different soups are available for sale: 15 bean with ham, broccoli cheese, chicken taco, chili, chunky potato and ham, Italian wedding soup, loaded potato, and Mount Olivet chicken noodle. Pastries that are being offered include apple crisp, banana bread, a slice of blueberry cream cheese pastry, blueberry scones (two), brownies (2), cheddar beer bread, chocolate chip cookies (three), chocolate covered pretzel rod either white or milk chocolate, key lime pie slice, and pumpkin bread.
