Gun violence

The American Academy of Pediatrics has long been an advocate for protecting our children from gun violence. Events like Columbine and Newtown and Parkland and Uvalde quickly come to mind. For the first time in history firearms now kill more children than motor vehicle accidents in the U.S. Mortality from firearms in children in the U.S. is 6 per 100,000 children. Canada is second at 0.6 per 100,000 children. That means that children in the U.S. die at 10 times the rate of the second highest nation in the civilized world. Research studies show that there are effective ways of dealing with that. Other countries have done so. [...]

Ham and cabbage dinner

There will be a ham and cabbage dinner on Saturday, March 16 at the Wheatley Community House in Galestown. Dinner includes ham, cabbage, potatoes, carrots, cornbread, and dinner roll. Suggested donation is $15/platter. Dinners will be served between 2 and 5 p.m. To place your pre-order, call 302-228-0279. Leave message including your name, and phone number for return confirmation call.   Wheatley Community House is located at intersection of MD Rt. 313 and Wheatley Church Road outside Galestown, Md. (two miles north of Sharptown and two miles south of Eldorado). Any current Maryland COVID-19 guidelines will be followed. Proceeds to benefit Historic Preservation Projects.
