Douglas “Doug” Collins of Laurel passed away on April 15, 2024 in the comfort of his own home. Doug was born in Salisbury on Feb. 20, 1970, to Kenneth Collins and Nancy Windsor Callahan. 

He was a graduate of Laurel High School in the class of 1988. Doug was a talented welder and fabricator for 30 years with SMW in Laurel. Additionally, he spent many late nights welding in his shop supporting local farmers. He also enjoyed hunting, 4-wheeling, mudding, and simply being at home. Doug was always very easy going and loved by many. He is survived by his father, Kenneth Collins; his mother, Nancy Callahan and his stepfather, Bill Callahan; sisters, Terri Collins and Corey Hudson-Anderson; aunts and uncles; Dennis and Polly Collins, Robert and Fay Downes, Rudy Collins and Becky White; nieces and nephews also survive him. Doug was preceded in death by his step-mother, Linda Collins and his best friend Mark Bunner. 

A visitation was held on Sunday, April 21, 2024, at the Hannigan, Short, Disharoon Funeral Home in Laurel followed by a funeral service. Reverend Tim Dukes officiated. Interment was held in Laurel Hill Cemetery. The family would like to extend a special thanks to the Vitas Hospice caregivers for the loving care they provided Doug during his illness.
