Susan Brinsfield Messick of Seaford passed away Tuesday afternoon, March 24, 2020 at John’s Hopkins Sidney Kimmel Cancer Center.

She was born on October 22, 1953, in Wilmington, DE, a daughter of the late Alfred Glenn and Hannah Brinsfield.

Susan previously worked for the City of Seaford and later retired from the Seaford School District as their Director of Transportation. Her passions were family, friends, and food in that order. She loved to mix these passions. The zeal for life that she exuded was infectious. Susan never missed an opportunity to tell anyone that would listen about her family and especially her grandchildren and great grandchildren. She was buoyed by her friends, who she loved to host, travel and gather with.

Susan was survived by her husband Ernest Samuel Messick Sr.; Sister Glenda Small and her daughter Jillian Small-Elms; children Ernest Samuel Messick Jr. and his wife Michelle Penaskovic Messick, Suzanne Green, Joel Marvel and his wife Michelle Marvel; grandchildren Brooke Messick, Jenna Green, Kristin Green, Coulton Messick, Bradley Green, Grant Messick, Katelin Marvel, Jacob Marvel; great-grandchildren Joseph Silva, Rylee Talent, Benjamin Talent, Marlee Shaffer

A memorial will be held at a later date in light of recent events.
