Doris Ann Long of Seaford passed away peacefully on Dec. 26, 2025.
Born in Seaford on March 9, 1942, she was the daughter of Norman and Ethel (Wallace) Hastings. She graduated from Seaford High School in 1960. She married her husband, Lee, in 1965 and moved with him to Wyoming, Del. where they built a house next to his family farm. Lee passed away in 1981, and Doris moved back to Seaford in 1982 to be near her family.
Doris worked until she was 78 years old. She worked at Woolworth’s in Seaford in her younger years, drove a school bus in the 70s until her husband passed away, then worked over the years for P.I.E., Yellow Freight, H&M Bay, and Pyramid Transport in the accounts payable department.
Doris is survived by her daughter, LeAnne Chaffinch and husband Earl; granddaughter, Brooke Brittingham (Kris Kirwan); great-granddaughter, Savannah Brittingham; sister, Emma Messick; her best friend for many, many years, Lula Hudson; and her nieces and nephews.
She was preceded in death by her husband, Lee Long; parents Norman and Ethel Hastings; brother, Frank Hastings; and sisters, Geneva Johnson, Helen Hastings, Ruth Wheatley, and Norma Lee Kelley.
Funeral services took place on Friday, Jan. 2 with a public viewing at Cranston Funeral Home, 300 N Shipley Street in Seaford. Interment was private.
