Mary Anna Dunn-King was born in Seaford on Monday, March 30, 1925 to Alexander and Fannie Bell Griffin. She gained her wings on Tuesday, March 30, 2021, on her 96th birthday at her daughters’ home in Bridgeville, where she was surrounded by Jessica Garcia, her nurse and Mimi White, her CNA from Vitas Hospice.

Mary was an avid Bingo player and could sit and memorize her cards without dabbing them. She enjoyed going to the slots, having yard sales, going to the auctions and playing cards with her grandchildren. She was known as a great country cook. Some of her favorites were potato salad, macaroni and cheese, and dumplings. She loved hosting family dinners.

Her husband of 30 years, James W. King Sr., followed her in death on Wednesday, March 31, 2021 at her daughters’ home in Bridgeville. 

She leaves to mourn her passing her eight children: Edward (Pam) Adams of Seaford, Fred Adams of Federalsburg, Wayne Adams of Eldorado, Md, Doris (Brian) Mull of Australia, Mimi (Fell) Lahman of Laurel, Clarence R. Dunn Jr. of Virginia, Steve (Marion) Dunn of Mardela Springs, Mary Jane (Jerry) McDorman of Bridgeville, three stepchildren, 19 grandchildren, seven step grandchildren, 31 great-grandchildren, 10 step great-grandchildren, four great-great-grandchildren and host of nieces and nephews.

She was preceded in death by her parents, three sisters, six brothers, her husband of 24 years, Clarence R. Dunn Sr. who passed in 1981; a grandson Adrian Adams, in 1985; and a step great-grandson. She was a loving mother and grandmother, and will be greatly missed. Celebration of life service will be held on Thursday, April 8 at 1 p.m. Family and friends may visit one hour before service.
