Linda L. Stakiel of Seaford passed away on Sept. 15 at TidalHealth Nanticoke in Seaford. Born in Greenwood, she was the daughter of the late Gladys Reid Johnson. Linda graduated from Bridgeville High School. After graduation, she enrolled in Delaware Tech and received her degree in nursing. Before her illness, she had worked at the Methodist Manor House and the Country Rest Home.
Linda enjoyed spending time with her grandchildren, doing puzzles, painting her nails, eating at Cracker Barrel with her husband, and watching the Ravens with her family. Some of her favorite pastimes were taking the grandchildren to the beach and spending the night in a nice hotel, and painting ceramics with her daughter.
Linda is survived by her loving husband, Michael Stakiel of Seaford; daughter, Melanie Stakiel of Seaford; sisters, Shirley A. Skelton and Helen Newcomer; grandchildren, Taylor Stakiel, Shyla Donovan, Deegan Donovan, Davin Moore, Aubrey McColpin, Lily Stakiel, and Mikey Stakiel. In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by her son, Michael Lee Stakiel on May 19, 2019.
A Celebration of Life will be held at noon on Saturday, Oct. 9 at the Hannigan, Short, Disharoon Funeral Home, 700 West Street, Laurel, DE 19956. A visitation will be held from 11 a.m.-noon at the funeral home. Pastor Joe LeCates will officiate. Interment will follow in Union Cemetery in Georgetown. Arrangements are in the care of the Hannigan, Short, Disharoon Funeral Home in Laurel.
