Kathie Payne of Laurel passed away at her home on April 2, 2021 surrounded by her loving family. Born in Salisbury, she was the daughter of the late Eschol Mariner and Effie Mae Wootten Mariner. Kathie graduated from Laurel High School in the class of 1971. She was retired as a retail associate with B.J.’s Wholesale in Millsboro. She was a staff member for over 15 years for the Little League Softball World Series. She also loved animals and especially loved spending time with her friends and family.
Kathie is survived by her son, Shane Payne (Tracy); daughter, Amy Littleton; brothers, Rob Mariner (Cathy), Mark Mariner (Teresa); sisters, Marcia Elliott (Jay), and Terri Wyatt (Mike); grandchildren, Haley Littleton, Matthew Littleton, Mackenzie Payne and Kamryn Payne. Several nieces and nephews also survive her.
A walk-through viewing was held on Friday, April 9 at the Hannigan, Short, Disharoon Funeral Home in Laurel. A funeral service was held privately. Mike Myers officiated. Burial was held in Laurel Hill Cemetery. Arrangements are in the care of the Hannigan, Short, Disharoon Funeral Home in Laurel.
