William Jack Downey of Laurel died on Friday, Feb. 10, 2023 at home. He was born in Salisbury and was the son of late William Downey and Mable (Davis) Niblett. 

He graduated from Laurel High School in 1967 and served with the United States Marines where he did two tours in Vietnam. He retired from the state of Delaware Department of Corrections. 

He is survived by his wife, Donna J. Downey of Laurel; a daughter, Brooke Romanko and husband Jordan of Bridgeville; two grandsons, Noah Townsend and Andrew Romanko; three sisters, Sandra Downey of Laurel, Tina Niblett of Seaford and Denise Niblett of Magnolia.

A viewing for friends and family was held on Wednesday, Feb. 15 at Bishop-Hastings Funeral Home in Selbyville. A private graveside service was held after the visitation.
