Kenneth G. “Corkey” Prettyman of Bridgeville passed away peacefully on May 20, 2026. Born on Nov. 25, 1943, in Bridgeville, Kenneth spent his entire life in the town he loved.
He was preceded in death by his parents, Joshua and Helen Tucker Prettyman; his sisters, Jeanette Young and Dianne Dyott; and his brother-in-law, Richard Shockley.
Kenneth is survived by his daughter, Angela Prettyman of Bridgeville; sons, Keith Prettyman of Texas and Michael Fluharty of Indiana; and his grandchildren, Chloe Prettyman, Joshua Prettyman, Bishop Tumlinson, and Gracie Fluharty. He is also survived by his sisters, Fay Shockley of Milford, and Brenda Prettyman of Greenwood; and his brothers, Mark Prettyman and wife, Norma, and Joe Prettyman and wife, Debbie, both of Greenwood.
Kenneth proudly served his country in the United States Army 25th Infantry Division during the Vietnam War and was decorated with numerous honors, including the Vietnam Counter Offensive Campaign Medal, National Defense Service Medal, National Defense Service Medal, Combat Infantry Badge, Vietnam Campaign Medal, and the Purple Heart. He was also a member of the VFW Post 7478.
A funeral service was held on Thursday, May 28 at Parsell Funeral Homes and Crematorium in Bridgeville. Interment with military honors followed the service at Bridgeville Cemetery. In lieu of flowers, contributions may be made to VFW Post 7478, 301 Mill Street, Greenwood, DE 19950.
