Texas C. Young of Laurel passed away on Aug. 22, 2022 at his home surrounded by his loving family. Born in Bristol, TN, he was the son of the late Charles Young and Clara Rose Gibson Crowder. He proudly served his country in the United States Marines from 1956-1963. Tex was the Past President of the Elk’s Club and his greatest love was singing gospel music and sharing his talent for singing at many churches and social events. 

He is survived by his wife Peggy Young of Laurel; sons, Daryl Young (Andi), Greg Frye, John Edgar Terrell II (Gwen); daughters, Debora Matalone, Charlene Meade (Darrell), Kimberly Trivits (John), Brenda Kelly (David), and Tracy Keeler (Mark); brothers, William Crowder and Daniel Crowder; grandchildren, Franklin Conaway III, Ryan Meade, Ethan Meade, Steven Meade, Megan Meade-Montanez, David Wooters, Bryan Young, Rachel Young, Cheyenne Young, Matthew Trivits, Lyndsay Trivits-Givens, Wendi Luffman, Michael Greenfield, Stephanie Terrell, Alexandria Pandzik, Jared Terrell, Luke Terrell, Alaina Vickers, and Tyler Keeler; 17 great-grandchildren; one great-great-grandchild; and several nieces and nephews. In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by his late wife, Mary Ann Young; son, Michael Terrell; brother, Sonny Young; sisters, Brenda Crowder, Jean Crowder, and Shirley Willey.
