Shirley Hartman of Laurel passed away on Jan. 19, 2025, at her home surrounded by her loving family. She was born on Oct, 9, 1939, in Concord to the late Russell and Nellie O’Neal. Shirley retired from E.I. Dupont as a zero-twist operator. She was a wonderful caregiver, and loving homemaker to her family; Shirley even spoiled her cats.

She is survived by her daughter, Sharon Browning; brother, John O’Neal and his wife Jutta; grandchildren, Trisha Seefried, Elyse Ridgaway, and Kayla Flores; great-grandchildren who lived with her and she took great pride in raising, Shyann Warfle and Arik Warfle; great-grandchildren, Klarissa Seefried and Jade Seefried; she is also survived by many more great-grandchildren, nieces and nephews. In addition to her parents, Shirley is preceded in death by her husband, James Hartman; daughter, Barbara Flores; and her brothers, Kenneth O’Neal, Francis O’Neal and sadly her brother Donald O’Neal who passed away the same day as she did.

A viewing was held on Tuesday, Jan. 28 at the Hannigan, Short, Disharoon Funeral Home in Laurel. A graveside service was held at Odd Fellow Cemetery in Laurel. In lieu of flowers, the family suggests contributions be made in Shirley’s honor to Vitas Hospice, 100 Commerce Drive, Ste 302, Newark, Delaware 19713. In addition to requesting contributions, they would like to extend a heartfelt “Thank you” to the Vitas Hospice Care Team for the wonderful care they provided.
