Leatrice Poyner Hearn of Laurel passed away on March 27, 2026 at the Delmar Villas Assisted Living in Delmar, Md. She was born on April 12, 1939 in Seaford to the late James Poyner and Grace Freidel Poyner.

Leatrice graduated from Seaford High School and after graduation she began her career with the E.I. Dupont Company in Seaford, where she worked for four years until becoming a loving homemaker and mom as she and her husband started their family. Once the children were older, she worked at Discount Land and Waller’s Men’s Store. Leatrice was a member of the former Christ United Methodist Church, faithfully singing in the choir, and was a member of the Martha Rebekah Lodge in Laurel.

She is survived by her sons, Gordon Hearn and his wife Dauna; Steven Hearn and his wife Michelle, both of Seaford; grandchildren, Jessica (Andy), Benjamin (Hannah), Nichole, Kyle (Heather), Korey (Leanne), Kole (Elisha); great-grandchildren Amelia, Leo, Kennedy, Olivia, Gracie, Trey, Kaiden, Alorah, Parker, Adley, and Max. In addition to her parents, she is preceded in death by her husband, Calvin O. Hearn and her sister, Theresa Poyner.

A graveside service will be held at 11 a.m. on Monday, April 6 at Odd Fellows Cemetery, West Street in Laurel. Pastor Barbara Wilson and Pastor Beth Milam will officiate.
