Sandra Hertel Handy of Seaford peacefully passed away on July 17, 2023 at home surrounded by her family. Words cannot describe the pain and void that have been left with Sandy’s passing. She was a beloved wife, mother, and grandmother, (or “Gran” as she liked to be called) and was a trusted confidant to her friends and family. We will forever cherish the many fond and loving memories of her. She will be dearly missed and never forgotten.
Sandy was born in Milford and lived in various parts of the country like Idaho and California, where she graduated from Simi Valley High School in 1964. Upon returning to her hometown of Dover she met the love of her life, Irvin Handy and married in 1968. For 55 years, she was a devoted farmer’s wife, creating a beautiful family and a place where her children and grandchildren could always call “home.” She was probably the most stylish farmers wife to grace Sussex County and had a smile that would light up a room.
Sandy was preceded in death by her parents, Grace (Brown) Ingram of Harrington and William Ingram of Dover. She is survived by her husband Irvin Handy of Seaford; her son Christopher (Karen) and their children Christian, Collin, Chase and Carolyn Handy, all of Seaford and her daughter, Paula Lynne Handy and her children, Derek and Meredith Sachs, also of Seaford.
Funeral services for Sandy were held on Tuesday, July 25 at Cranston Funeral Home in Seaford.
