Robert James DeYoung of Seaford passed to his Heavenly home on Sunday, Feb. 13, 2022 at his winter home in Waycross, Ga. of a heart attack. 

He was born on May 6, 1960 in Patterson, N.J. to Robert and Janice DeYoung. He had church at home and was an avid beekeeper, farmer, and semi-retired construction worker.

He is survived by his loving wife, Miriam S. (Bender) DeYoung, married 20 short years; three daughters, Elizabeth, Hannah, and Sarah; a son, Joshua, all at home. Also surviving, three sisters, Karen (Tim) Warren of Newton, AL, Sharon and Barbara; his mother, Janice; parents-in-law, Samuel and Irma Bender of Vanleer, TN; brother-in-law, Paul (Debra) Bender; sisters-in-law, Lena (Rick) Krause, and Esther (David) Schlabach, sister-in-law, Dorothy (James) Bender; two aunts, and many nieces, nephews, great nieces and great nephews.

He was preceded in death by his father, Robert Peter DeYoung; brother-in-law, James Bender; and a nephew, Lyndon Bender.

The funeral service took place on Monday, Feb. 21. Interment followed at the Salisbury Mennonite Cemetery.

The family is so grateful for friends and family in Delaware and Georgia for the love and support they have provided through these difficult times.

Memorial contributions may be made in his memory to Smithson’s Mennonite Chapel or Salisbury Mennonite Church.
