Robert Edward Dechene of Laurel passed away on July 24, 2023 at John Hopkins Hospital in Baltimore, Md. surrounded by his loving family. Born in Salisbury, he is the son of the late Joseph and Annette Dechene. Robert graduated from Laurel High School in the class of 1984. He loved to cook and garden, and was involved with the Boy Scouts having earned the honor of Eagle Scout himself. He was a member of Crossroad Community Church in Dagsboro.
He is survived by his loving wife Denise Dechene; daughters, Robyn Marie Chandler and her husband Robert, and Brandy Dechene-Ott and her husband Christopher; brother, Bertrand Dechene; sister, Vivian Wheatley; several nieces and nephews also survive him. In addition to his parents, Robert is preceded in death by his brothers, Raymond Dechene, Philip Dechene, and Norman Dechene.
A visitation will be held from 10-11 a.m. on Saturday, Aug. 5 at Hannigan, Short, Disharoon Funeral Home, 700 West Street, Laurel, Delaware 19956. A celebration of life will follow at 11 a.m. at the funeral home. Interment will be private.
