Robert (Bob) L. Michael of Seaford passed away on Monday, June 13, 2022. He was born in Camden, N.J. on Feb. 20, 1942. He was predeceased by Eupha (Polly), his wife and companion for 34 years. He was the son of the late Lawrence and Myrtle (Callaway) Michael. He was also predeceased by his brothers Lawrence, Thomas, Joseph and John. He is survived by his sister Anna Marie Martin and husband, sister-in-law Susan (O’Neill), step children Raven Caterini, Karen Schmidt, John Strothers and several nieces and nephews.

He was a 1960 graduate of Gloucestor Catholic High School in Gloucestor, N.J. He lived in Cape May County, N.J. after high school. He worked in many different capacities at Henny’s and The Mirage restaurants in Stone Harbor and Avalon. He was co-owner of Polly’s Place in Stone Harbor for several years. 

In early 2000, he and Polly moved to Seaford. Bob was an active member of the American Legion in New Jersey and Delaware for 41 years. He was a member for 21 years at Post #331 in Stone Harbor, N.J., where he was commander for two of those years. He was also a member of the American Legion Nanticoke Post #6 in Seaford. He held positions including Commander, Department Commander, National Executive Committee member, Department First and Second Vice Commander, Sussex District Commander and was serving as the Department Assistant Adjutant at the time of his passing.                                   

There will be a memorial service for Bob on Thursday, June 23 at 2 p.m. at the Delaware Veteran’s Memorial Cemetery, 26669 Patriots Way, Millsboro. In lieu of flowers, donations in Bob’s memory may be made to the American Legion Post #6, 230 N. Front Street, Seaford, Delaware 19973.
