Richard M. Tull passed away on Tuesday, Sept. 19, 2023. He was born on his grandfather’s farm near Seaford on Feb. 7, 1933. The only child of Julius and Dorothy Tull, he grew up in Laurel and graduated from Laurel High School with the class of 1951. He was a member of the National Honor Society and a member of the 1949 and 1950 Laurel Bulldogs football teams.

Richard graduated from Goldey Beacom and served two years with the United States Army, plus one year of active reserve. He began his work career with the First National Bank of Seaford and became a branch manager for the Bank of Delaware. He managed Nanticoke Finance Company for four years and spent 29 years as administrative manager of Covey Foods.

He was a member of the American Legion Post 6 of Seaford, the Laurel Alumni Association, Seaford Historical Society, St. John’s United Methodist Church of Seaford, and served five years as president of the Widowed Persons Service of Sussex County.

In 1956 he married Gail Hutchinson of Seaford and they spent more than 52 years together until Gail’s death in 2009. Together they raised two daughters, Coleen Kenton (Alan) and Susan Wooters (Jerry). In addition to his daughters, he is survived by granddaughter, Jennifer Hughes (Andrew), grandson, Terry Wooters (Susan), granddaughter, Cassie Hooper (Nathan), and one great-grandchild.  He is also survived by his companion, Emily Conner and her family.

Funeral Services took place on Monday, Sept. 25 at Cranston Funeral Home in Seaford. Interment was private.
