Richard L. Short of Bridgeville passed away peacefully on May 19, 2023. He was born in Dover on April 5, 1940, the son of Beatrice Short and the late Cleveland Short.
Richard played in the band Bunky Eye and The Inmates for several years. Richard was a U.S. Army Veteran and a past member of the Bridgeville Fire Company. He retired from Delaware Electric Cooperative Inc. where he worked as a supervisor. He enjoyed woodworking, puzzles, tinkering on his tablet, but most of all he loved playing with his grandchildren.
He is survived by his wife of 46 years, Barbara Short, two sons, Richard C. Short (Brandi) and Kenneth Richardson (Billie Jo), three daughters, Laura Pepper (David), Margaret Richardson, and Susan Oldham (Terry), mother, Beatrice Short, sister, Sharon Beauchamp (Richard), and a dear Aunt, Joyce Warrington. He is also survived by 13 grandchildren, five great-grandchildren, and many nieces and nephews.
Richard was preceded in death by his father, Cleveland Short, three grandchildren, Moriah Sutton, Noel Short, and Casey Zitvogel, as well as his beloved dog, Holly.
