Preston E. Grace passed away on Jan. 10, 2023.
Preston graduated from Woodbridge Jr/Sr High School in 1987 and from Wilmington University. He retired from the Woodbridge School District in 2021.
He coached several sports at Woodbridge over his 35 year career, winning two state football championships. In 2017, he was honored as Assistant Coach of the Year in Delaware High School Football and was inducted into Delaware Afro-American Sports Hall of Fame in 2019.
He is survived by his wife, Christine Grace; brothers Charles Grace (Malaika Younger), Jerome Johnson, Emory Johnson, and Alfred (Faye) Johnson; sister Christine Winchester; in-laws who loved him as their own, Ann and Ron Hurst Sr., and Ron Hurst Jr.
He was preceded in death by his beloved parents Preston Foreman and Elizabeth “Liz” Grace; and brothers Melvin Johnson and Ronald Taylor.
Services will be held Saturday, Jan. 21 at Woodbridge High School in Greenwood with visitation at 10 a.m. and a Celebration of Life service at noon. Attendees are encouraged to wear their Woodbridge (or other school) apparel.
In lieu of flowers, donations may be made to a scholarship fund in his honor and sent to Woodbridge School District, 16359 Sussex Hwy., Bridgeville, DE 19933.
