Phyllis Jane Johnson of Laurel passed away on Friday, April 8, 2022 at Lofland Park Center in Seaford.
She was born on June 9, 1940 in Delmar, Del., a daughter of the late Grace E. (Whaley) Elliott and Phillip J. Elliott.
In her early years, Phyllis worked on the farm with her husband. She was a member of the Ladies Homemaker Club, the ladies auxiliary of the American Legion in Laurel and the Laurel Garden Club. She also spent time volunteering at the Laurel Good Samaritan Shop. She worked part-time for almost 20 years at Reese’s Liquor’s in Laurel and Phyllis spent over 50 years as a school bus contractor for the Delmar School District.
She is survived by her son, Phillip F. Crouch of Laurel; a daughter, Bonnie L. DuBois (Allen) of Laurel; step-daughter, Judy Mills Weed (Harold) of Delmar; grandchildren, Tiffany Crouch, Trinity Crouch, Bobbie Kate Crouch, William Patterson, and Brad Patterson; several great-grandchildren; and close friends, Laura and Joe Baxter and family.
In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by her husband, Granville L. Johnson; and sisters, Jean E. Rogers and Mary Louise Moore.
A memorial service will be held at 11 a.m. on Thursday, April 21 at Short Funeral Home in Delmar. A visitation for family and friends will be held one hour prior to the service. Pastor Johnny Rogers will officiate. Interment will be private.
