Philip Michael Hart of Laurel passed away from this life on Sept. 8, 2022. Michael, as he was known to his friends and family, was born to parents Francis and Floranna in Washington, D.C. on Nov. 10, 1950 and grew up in Frederick, Md. where he attended Thomas Johnson High School. 

Michael is survived by his loving wife of 48 years, Patricia Hart; sons Zachary and Joshua; daughters-in-law Sylvia and Angela; grandchildren Franklin, Isabella, Eva, Marysol, Noah, Chessa, Chelsea and Reese; brother Matthew Hart; sisters Valerie Hart, Kate Hart Rogers and Megan Hart Waters; nephew Sean; and niece Tara. Michael had five great-grandchildren. He is preceded in death by sister Connie Hart, daughter Dawn Field, son Gabriel Hart and nephew Augie Hart. 

Michael lived a passionate, rich life filled with diversity and adventure. He was an excellent cook and worked in the restaurant business for years until ultimately finding a career in nursing. Michael began nursing in the operating room then moved on to addiction recovery and treatment and finally, pediatric inpatient psychiatric care. 

He was infinitely interested in literature and read constantly. Michael loved music and was a gifted guitar player, singer and songwriter. He traveled frequently and explored many parts of Europe, Mexico and the USA. Michael, Pat and their Doberman Pinscher “Chani” hiked the Appalachian Trail for 33 days in the 1970s. In the 1990s Michael donated his nursing skills by volunteering in Albania to assist the refugees of the Bosnian War. 

Michael leaves behind a legacy of love, friendship, intelligence and philanthropy.
