Pearl Morris passed away peacefully at home on Wednesday, Feb. 22, 2023 surrounded by her loving family. She was born on Jan. 20, 1926 to Charles and Irma Phillips in Gumboro. After marrying Granville Morris in 1946, she started working at the Laurel Shirt Factory and then later left to become a homemaker and care for her family. Then she started hanging wallpaper for many years throughout the local area. After retiring, she worked with several children at Epworth Christian School.

She was an avid gardener and loved preparing family dinners. Her family meant everything to her. She was a member of Epworth Methodist Church where she taught Sunday school and played the piano. She also was a founding member of Epworth Fellowship Church and later Central Worship Center.

She was preceded in death by her parents Charles and Irma Phillips; her husband of 44 years, Granville Morris; baby sister Thelma Phillips; sister Madelyn Hudson and daughter-in-law Ruby Morris. She is survived by her son Charles Morris (Dianne), daughter Thelma Jean Brock (Freddie), and son Chester Morris (Terri) all of Laurel; six grandchildren, Kevin Brock (Debbie), Keith Brock (Crystal), Amy Bowles (Danny), Chad Morris (Jerica), Brett Morris (Amanda), and Grant Morris; 10 great-grandchildren also survive her. Special thanks to Connie, Kim and Gail for their exceptional loving care for our mother, and also a heartfelt thank you to Dr. Karnish and his staff.

A funeral service was held on Wednesday, March 1 at Central Worship Center in Laurel. Pastor Tim Dukes officiated, followed by interment in Odd Fellows Cemetery in Laurel.
