Paula Ann Baker Coulbourn passed away peacefully on Sept. 28, 2022 in her home in Seaford with her family by her side.

Born on Aug. 22, 1961 in Wilmington, Paula was the daughter of the late Barbara Ann Schumacher Baker and Fred Hastings Baker, Sr. She graduated from Seaford High School in 1979 and Salisbury State University in 1983 with a B.A. in political science and government. She married Spencer Brent Coulbourn, Sr. on Sept. 12, 1987; this fall, they celebrated 35 wonderful years of marriage.

Paula dedicated her career to the banking industry; she was a branch manager at Mellon Bank until she joined PNC Bank, where she worked for over 26 years as the branch manager in Seaford and the sales and services support manager for the Greater Delmarva region. Paula was well regarded for her integrity, strength as a leader, and commitment to upholding her core values.

In the summer months, Paula could be found at the Columbus Villa, a beach property she and her brother, Fred, owned on the Ocean City boardwalk. Her favorite pastime was immersing herself in a book from sunrise to sunset on the beach or by the pool. Paula also cherished the quality time she spent with her “Girl Tribe” and Sunday night phone calls with her cousin, Carrie. Famous for her crab dip, Paula was a gracious host and enjoyed trying new restaurants and recreating her favorite dishes for her family. She also loved her family’s many traditions, including the annual Fourth of July celebrations in Ocean City, Thanksgiving dinners, Christmas Eve gatherings in Millsboro and Lewes, and Komarmi women luncheons.

She is survived by her husband, Spencer Brent Coulbourn, Sr. of Seaford; children, Spencer B. Coulbourn, Jr. of Seaford, and Elizabeth (Betsey) A. Coulbourn of Seaford; brother, Fred H. Baker, Jr., and his children Olivia S. Baker and her husband, Timothy McCall, Liam A. Baker, and Benjamin A. S. Baker; aunt, Patricia S. Oliphant; sister-in-law Amy M. Pearson and her husband, George E. Pearson, and their children, Abigail M. Pearson, George E. H. Pearson; sister-in-law Pamela H. Lewis, and brother-in-law Scott J. Coulbourn and his daughter, Jennifer L. Coulbourn, as well as many other cherished members of Paula’s extensive family and close group of friends. She was preceded in death by her father, Fred H. Baker Sr. and mother, Barbara A. S. Baker.
