Orville Kenneth Scheller of Delmar, Del. passed away peacefully on Aug. 8, 2023. He was born on April 29, 1930 in Hillman, MI, to the late Charles and Mary Scheller.

From childhood Ken had a passion for flying and enjoyed constructing model aircrafts from scratch.  Ken loved traveling, gathering with family and friends, and especially attending grade school, high school, and college reunions. People were very important to him. Ken was always active. He enjoyed walking and often stopped to talk with neighbors along the way.

In 1961 Ken Scheller received his Degree of Master of Arts in Applied Theology from Andrews University, Michigan, and began his ministry in Pennsylvania. He continued to work for the Seventh-day Adventist Church Organization for 55 years. In 1967 he began a five and a half year term as missionary pastor, evangelist, teacher to the Yap and Palau, Pacific Island Territory. Upon return to the States, he served eight years for the Church World Headquarters in Maryland and as volunteer pastor at a nearby church. In 1988 Pastor Scheller came to the Eastern Shore to serve at Federalsburg SDA Church, and both the Salisbury Park SDA Church and the Seaford SDA Church, and continued in retirement to volunteer his services here.  Ken kept an ongoing prayer list of acquaintances throughout his ministry, daily praying for them.

Ken was preceded in death by his parents, Charles William Scheller and Mary Ruth Turney Scheller; sisters, Leona Scheller Baugher and Mary Alice Scheller Buczkowski; son, Michael Paul Scheller, daughter-in-law, Jerilynn Scheller, and daughter Kimberlee Dawn Scheller.

He is survived by his wife, Carolyn Scheller; brother, Charles William Scheller, Jr.; sister, Geraldine Scheller Brusett; grandson, Ryan Matthew Scheller; great-grandson, Ryder Declan Scheller, as well as several cousins and many dear nieces and nephews.

A memorial service will take place on Oct. 29 at 1 p.m. at Park Seventh-day Adventist Church, 31525 John Deere Dr., Salisbury, MD 21804.
