Norma Lee Yori of Fenwick Island peacefully passed away on Oct. 12, 2023, with her husband by her side at Beebe Medical Center in Lewes. Born in Milford on April 20, 1943, she was the daughter of the late Robert and Ruth Calloway of Bridgeville.
Norma grew up in Bridgeville, graduating from Bridgeville High School in 1961. She played on the varsity women’s basketball team and was considered to be an outstanding athlete. She also played in the high school band. After graduating from high school, Norma attended and graduated from Milford Memorial Hospital School of Nursing and became a registered nurse in 1964.
In 1967 Norma married James A. (Jim) Yori from Laurel and for 55 plus years they shared a wonderful and loving marriage. Norma was the loving and proud godmother of her three godsons and their families: Steve Collins of Orinda, California, Matt Collins of Randolph, New Jersey, and Brian Collins of Fenwick Island, Delaware.
In addition to her parents, Norma was preceded in death by her brother, Robert Calloway of Fredericksburg, Va. She is survived by her husband, Jim Yori, her sister-in-law, Jean Calloway, her niece, Corbin Calloway, her brother-in-law and sister-in-law, Robert and Joan Yori.
Norma had many dear friends that she loved very much and who loved her in return. She will be dearly missed.
A Mass of Christian Burial took place on Wednesday, Oct. 25 at St. Ann’s Catholic Church in Bethany Beach followed by the Mass, a burial ceremony at Gate of Heaven Cemetery in Dagsboro.
