Nancy Bailey of Laurel passed away peacefully on Jan. 19, 2023 in the home of her son and daughter-in-law, Steve and Lisa Bailey. She was born on Jan. 9, 1946 in Chincoteague, Va. to the late Judson and Hallie Thornton. She is survived by her sons, Steve Bailey and his wife Lisa of Seaford; Chad Hastings and his wife Marianne of Magnolia; grandchildren Mark Bailey, Ashley Bailey, Dominic Hastings, Brianna Pangia, Jetta Hastings, and Gavin Pangia as well as several nieces and nephews. In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by her husband Paxton “Pat” Bailey, and her dear friend of 24 years Janet Massey. 

She was loved dearly by all of her friends and family. When she was younger, she was an active participant in Laurel Little League with her husband and, later, running Strikemaster Lanes with her famous “Moonlight Bowling.” She spent the last 26 years as one of the cornerstones of the Seaford Walmart store and so well loved by her coworkers that they even call her “Mom.” When she wasn’t working, she loved going to the slots and watching the Hallmark Channel. 

A viewing will be held from 6-8 p.m. on Friday, Jan. 27 at the Hannigan, Short, Disharoon Funeral Home, 700 West Street Laurel, Delaware 19956. A viewing will be also held at St. John’s United Methodist Church, 300 N. Pine Street, Seaford, Delaware 19973 on Saturday, Jan. 28 from 11 a.m. to noon. The funeral service will begin at noon.
