Milton Edward James of Laurel passed away Friday, Jan. 13, 2023 surrounded by his loved ones. He was born on Jan. 21, 1946 in Salisbury to Sonny James and Ruth Robinson. In addition to his parents he was preceded in death by his granddaughter Heather Selph. He is survived by his wife of 22 years Lu Ann James, daughter Ruth Giacalone and her husband Lou Giacalone, son Todd James, stepson Gary Moore and his wife Jessica Covert, stepson Jeremy Moore and his wife Melania Moore, stepdaughter Kristen Moore and her husband Frank Vanvliet; grandsons Graysen James, Cole Moore, Zackery Wier, Frank Vanvliet Jr. and Nathan Vanvliet; granddaughters Ember James, Miranda Moore, Madison Moore, Kelsee Moore, and Savannah Moore; and two great-grandsons Kash and Maverick.

Milton was a mason for over 50 years. He enjoyed gardening, working in his shop, reloading, hunting and was an advent fisherman. He also loved traveling and the Outer Banks was his favorite vacationing spot. Milton loved spending time with his family especially when gathering around the holidays. Often, he could be found on the water catching flounder or tubing down the river with his family and friends.

A private service was held at Cranston’s Funeral Home on Jan. 16. In lieu of flowers, the family asks that you cast a line in remembrance of great fishing stories told past and present.
