Lois Ann Morgan Truitt passed away quietly at Atlantic Shores Nursing Home in Millsboro on Friday, Feb. 3 after a brief stay in TidalHealth Hospital in Seaford.
Mrs. Truitt was born in Salisbury on Jan. 2, 1937, the daughter of Richard H. and Isabelle Hoffman Morgan. She lived and worked in Salisbury until her marriage to Donald Lee Truitt of Pittsville in 1960. The couple moved to Aberdeen, Md. where they both worked at Aberdeen Proving Grounds for 18 years. In 1987 they moved to DeFuniak Springs, Fla. where Mrs. Truitt worked part-time in the college bookstore in Niceville. In 2013 the Truitts returned to the Eastern Shore to be near family and resided in the Village of Cool Branch, a community near Seaford.
Mrs. Truitt was preceded in death by her parents, her sister Sandra Bridges, one niece Julie Moyer, and her devoted husband of 60 years, Donald Lee Truitt. She is survived by two nephews who cared for her in recent years, Michael Dennis and his wife Joyce and Wm. Samuel Scott and his wife Patti. She is also survived by an elderly aunt in Pennsylvania whom she dearly loved, extended nieces and nephews and several beloved cousins.
She enjoyed her flowers, chatting with neighbors, going to lunch with her family, doing word puzzlebooks and closely following her beloved Baltimore Orioles baseball games. She doted on her cat Buffy.
Funeral arrangements are private. In lieu of flowers donations may be made to the Brandywine SPCA in Georgetown in her name.
