Applications for the latest round of scholarships from the Laurel Alumni Scholarship Foundation are now available. Applicants have to be a graduating son or daughter of a member, in good standing, of the Laurel Alumni Association for at least three years prior to June 2020. The Laurel Alumni Scholarship Foundation also administers these additional scholarships:
• The Helen Kirk Deputy Ellis Scholarship, awarded to a Laurel High School graduate who is attending a four-year college or university and has met the other requirements. This year’s scholarship is $4,500.
• The George Schollenberger Memorial Scholarship, awarded to a Laurel High School graduate who has lettered in football for two years and has met the other requirements. The recipient must be attending a two- or four-year college or university or trade school and must have met the other requirements. This scholarship is $1,500.
The association has awarded over $634,600 in scholarships over the last 29 years. Tax deductible donations can be mailed to the Laurel Alumni Association Scholarship Foundation, PO Box 382, Laurel, DE 19956.
Application forms are available from the guidance office in Laurel High School or by calling 875-2503. Applications are also available online at lhs.laurel.k12.de.us. All completed applications are due back to the Foundation by Wednesday, April 1.
