It is with heavy hearts that we announce the passing of Kevin Frank Burkett, who left this world on Saturday, Nov. 11, 2023. Kevin was born on Jan. 23, 1992 in Newark to his loving parents, Thomas and Elaine Burkett.

Kevin graduated from Concord High School with the class of 2010. He went on to become a critical care nurse specializing in cardiac care at Beebe Healthcare in Lewes. In his free time, he loved playing Dungeons and Dragons, listening to podcasts, and doing carpentry work. He enjoyed spending time outdoors, either gardening or doing yard work, and was known for his homemade pizza. Kevin was a remarkable man who lived his life with laughter and compassion. His greatest joy was spending time with family and being an exceptional husband, father, brother, son, and friend. 

He is survived by his parents, Thomas and Elaine Burkett; his wife, Kelly Staples; three daughters, Charlie Burkett, Briella Porter, and Carmen Staples; brother, Thomas M. Burkett (Hannah); sister, Katherine A. Burkett; sisters-in-law, Crystal Staples and Kathryn Clarke; nephews, Connor and Trevor Clarke; childhood friends, Matthew Schoch, Sean Buckley, Micah Walker, and Matthew Strazzella; and friend, Ryan A. Horsey. He was preceded in death by his maternal grandmother, Daniela Dobiszewski; paternal grandmother, Barbara Welle, and sister-in-law, Allison Staples.

A memorial service was held at on Saturday, Nov. 18 at Short Funeral Home in Delmar. Interment followed the service in St. Stephens Cemetery in Delmar.
