Kay L. Murphy of Laurel passed away on Monday, May 15, 2023, at TidalHealth Nanticoke in Seaford.
She was born on Aug. 9, 1945 to the late Melvin and Helen Lowe. Kay graduated from Laurel High School in the class of 1963. She had a long career in the banking industry and retired as a manager for Wilmington Trust Bank. Kay enjoyed traveling, watching westerns, rooting the Phillies baseball team to victory, but her most favorite pastimes were watching her grandchildren’s sporting events, hosting and cooking the family holiday dinners. She was a member of the Laurel Church of Christ, and the Rebekah’s Lodge in Laurel.
Kay is survived by sons, Michael P. Murphy (Sheila), Christopher R. Murphy, Greg S. Murphy (Theresa), Brian A. Murphy (Jill); grandchildren, Caitlin Murphy, Kylie S. Murphy, Luke T. Murphy, Caleb M. Murphy (Cassidy), Shelby L. Walton (Brandon), Christian H.T. Murphy (Rebecca), Sierra M.G. Murphy; great-grandchildren, Lennon L. Walton, Hannah Murphy, Elijah Murphy, Molly Murphy, and Jude Murphy. In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by her husband John Patrick Murphy.
A visitation will be held from 11 a.m-noon on Thursday, May 25 at the Hannigan, Short, Disharoon Funeral Home, 700 West Street, Laurel, Delaware 19956. A funeral service will follow at noon. Reverend Wayne Mathis will officiate. Interment will be held in Odd Fellows Cemetery in Laurel.
