Katherine “Kathie” Sturgis of Laurel passed away from a sudden heart attack on Sept. 3, 2022 at TidalHealth Nanticoke in Seaford. Born in Salisbury, she was the daughter of Wilson H. Sturgis of Delmar and Charlotte H. Caudill of Bethel.
Kathie was a caregiver for Alzheimer’s patients, enjoyed volunteering for Code Purple and Autism Delaware, and attending Sailor’s Bethel United Methodist Church. Her most favorite pastimes were spending time with her grandchildren and family, gardening, watching her hummingbirds and going to the beach. She is survived by her sons, Kevin Sturgis and Trey Krumm; brother, David Sturgis (Vince Mallee); sister, Lezlie Downes (Darrell); half-sister, Amy Marvin (Joe); step-siblings, Kim Maloney, Carol Bulter, Jeff Caudill; grandchildren and several nieces and nephews also survive her. Kathie was preceded in death by her step-father, Franklin Caudill.
A viewing was held on Saturday, Sept. 10 at Sailor’s Bethel United Methodist Church, Bethel. A funeral service followed at the church. Reverend Bill Nack officiated. Interment followed in Mt.
