John Lee Hopkins, Jr. of Laurel passed away on May 9, 2023 at his home surrounded by his loving family. He was born on May 22, 1940 in Salisbury to the late John Lee Hopkins, Sr. and Bessie Watkinson Hopkins. 

In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by three brothers, Milton, Lawrence, and Robert Hopkins; as well as three sisters, Audrey Kagney, Ruth White, and Katherine Hopkins. John is survived by his loving wife of 62 years, Patsy Hopkins, their children, Peggy Sue Hastings (William), Linda Clarke (Dwayne), and Roy Hopkins (Tracy); grandchildren, Hilary Fudge (Erick), Jeremy Hastings, Kimberly Puterbaugh (Ryan), Sara Clarke, Bradley Hastings, Owen Hopkins, and Quinn Hopkins; seven great-grandchildren, and a sister, Alice Faye Hopkins also survive him. 

John was the owner of John Hopkins Exterminating of Laurel for many years and enjoyed his hobby of wood working and refinishing furniture. He and his wife are members of Mt. Pleasant United Methodist Church where he was often heard singing the gospel. 

A visitation will be held on Thursday, May 18 from noon-1 p.m. at Mt. Pleasant United Methodist Church. A funeral service will follow at 1 p.m. Reverend Lisa Hines will officiate. Interment will follow at Mt. Pleasant United Methodist Church Cemetery.
