John H. Myer of Bridgeville died peacefully at his home on Tuesday, March 21, 2023. Born on June 29, 1953 in Milford, he was the son of Josephine “Josie” B. (Mereider) Myer and the late Hearn Myer.

A native Delawarean, John was a graduate of Seaford High School. John’s talent for carpentry and his entrepreneurial spirit led him to launch his own business, John Myer Construction, a career that was both challenging and rewarding. A passionate outdoorsman, John looked forward to hunting season each year, particularly turkey or deer hunting. When the temperatures warmed up, he could often be found fishing for flounder as often as he could. The only thing he enjoyed more than hunting or fishing was feasting on what he caught. John always had a joke or funny story, and his sense of humor endeared him to his family and friends. Above all, he cherished his family and the time spent with them. John was a loving and devoted partner, son, brother, and friend who will be forever missed by all who had the good fortune to know him.

In addition to his mother, he is survived by his sister, Boni Myer; his beloved companion of 19 years, Christine Nelson, and many friends and extended family.

A graveside service was held on Monday, March 27 at the Bridgeville Cemetery in Bridgeville. Arrangements have been entrusted to Parsell Funeral Homes and Crematorium, Hardesty Chapel, 202 Laws St., Bridgeville.
