Jay Holloway of Greenwood went home to be with the Lord on Wednesday, Nov. 8, 2023, after a brief illness. He was born on June 6, 1939 in Baltimore, Md., son of the late Willard and Margaret Holloway.
Jay attended St. Paul’s School for Boys in Baltimore, Md. and Franklin & Marshall College in Lancaster, Pa., where he majored in Business Administration and minored in ROTC. He did post-graduate work at Salisbury State University. Jay spent his career with the state of Delaware as a Probation and Parole Officer and served in the United States Air Force Reserves, where he reached the rank of Colonel. After retirement, Jay spent many years volunteering at the Christian Shelter in Salisbury and was active in Family Ministries Fellowship in Bridgeville.
In addition to his parents, Jay was preceded in death by his wife, Hope Holloway; his oldest son, Eric; and his brother, William Pomeroy. He is survived by his youngest son, Kevin; his grandson, Patrick Holloway; and his former wife, Kathleen Holloway.
A memorial service will be held on Friday, Dec. 8 at 11 a.m. at Greenwood Mennonite Church, 12650 Rd. 631, Greenwood, where friends may visit beginning at 10 a.m. There will be a private interment at a later time. Arrangements have been entrusted to Parsell Funeral Homes & Crematorium, Hardesty Chapel, Bridgeville.
