Janice Deitz Newsome of Seaford died Tuesday, May 30, 2023 at the Manor House in Seaford.
Janice was born in Baltimore, Md. on March 16, 1936, the daughter of the late Elmer Lawrence Deitz and Helen Elizabeth Deitz. After graduating high school, she went to work for WSFS Bank. While vacationing at Betterton Beach, Md., she met the love of her life, the late Jack Newsome. After a romantic courtship they were married on May 5, 1956. The two lived in Chestertown until 2012 when they moved to the Manor House in Seaford.
Janice was a homemaker and a wonderful wife and mother. Janice went to work as a part-time receptionist at Christ United Methodist Church and retired after 37 years. Janice enjoyed her house plants and assorted variety of pets. She enjoyed family gatherings, the many family vacations they went on, and loved dancing and floating across the floor with her husband. Janice also enjoyed the friends she met at the Manor House while volunteering and living there. She touched the hearts of many people with her sweet, kind soul.
She is survived by her sister, Eileen Kapetsky and her husband James Kapetsky of Wilmington, NC; her son, John “Mark” Newsome of Chestertown; her daughter, Lisa Burch of Seaford; granddaughter, Stephanie Marie Hill (Raymond) of Seaford; and two great-grandchildren, Kaitlyn and Connor Hill, both of Seaford.
A celebration of life will be held at a later date.
