Ida Lee Coulbourn of Cokesbury passed away March 2, 2023 in the comfort of her own home with family by her side. She was born March 16, 1931 in Laurel to Norman and Emma Elliott.

Ida Lee, Miss Ida, or to the ones that loved her most- Mom, Mom-Mom, Granny, led a giving and caring life, always putting others first. Her and Dad’s work ethic still are the backbone of this family, which she helped raise on the family poultry farm. She also enjoyed floral arranging while working at a local florist for many years.

She was the glue that held our family together, always hosting family dinners and reunions. Her favorite though, was Christmas Eve dinner with all the children, grandchildren, and great-grandchildren, making sure that everyone had more than a few presents under her lovingly decorated Christmas tree. An excellent cook, she always had requests for her macaroni and cheese, but her most requested dish, the delicious Applesauce cake found its way into many homes at Christmas time, several years topping over 100 cakes. We’re not sure if it was her hobby or if it was out of necessity, but she loved canning and freezing much of the harvest that Dad grew in their huge garden.

You could find her most every Sunday at church, and being the take charge type, she was one of several leading a dedicated crew at her beloved Cokesbury UMC working hard to support the popular monthly oyster dinners.

Ida Lee is survived by her daughter, Bonnie L. Spedden, and two sons, Ronnie B. Coulbourn and his wife Jen, and Fred E. Coulbourn and his wife Trisha, and eight grandchildren, 15 great-grandchildren and three great-great-grandchildren.

She was preceded in death by her husband Herman Coulbourn of 52 years, two sisters and two brothers. The family would like to give a special thank you to Ida Lee’s caregivers Debbie Adams and Gale Coates for their loving care.

Funeral services were held Monday, March 13 at Framptom Funeral Home in Federalsburg. Burial followed at Cokesbury Cemetery.

Expressions of sympathy can be made to Cokesbury Community Center c/o Suzanne Collier, PO Box 82, Rhodesdale, MD 21659 or to Coastal Hospice, PO Box 1733, Salisbury, MD 21802.
