Garfield Custis departed this life on Nov. 4, 2022 at Harrison Senior Living in Georgetown.

Garfield was affectionately called “Uncle Noon” by everyone who met him. He was a quiet, friendly and gentle man.

He was born on Sept. 5, 1930 in Hallwood, Va. to the late George Washington Custis and Mary Ellen Custis.

He received his education in the Virginia public school system prior to his move to Laurel.

At the age of 21, Uncle Noon entered the United States Army and proudly served his country being honorably discharged. He was awarded the Occupation Medal (Japan), Korean Service Medal with two bronze stars, Purple Heart Infantry Badges and United Nations Service Medal.

He was preceded in death by his brothers and sisters. He leaves to mourn a multitude of nieces, nephews, great nieces and great nephews, cousins and other family members and friends.

The family received friends on Tuesday, Nov. 15 at the Framptom Funeral Home-Fleischauer Chapel in Greenwood. Burial followed at the Delaware Veterans Memorial Cemetery in Millsboro. Share memories with the family at www.framptom.com.
