Eva Jane Edgell of Federalsburg passed away on Thursday, Nov. 30, 2023 at the University of Maryland Medical System at Easton. 

She was born on May 30, 1936 in Laurel, the daughter of the late Charles W. Bourgignon and Margie Parsons Bourgignon.

She graduated from Laurel High School with the class of 1954. She married Robert Edgell on April 6, 1963 and they made their home in Federalsburg.

She started her career in banking with Wilmington Trust, and later worked at the Framptom Funeral Home and eventually retired from Colonel Richardson Middle School as the guidance secretary.

She was a member and former Worthy Matron of the Order of the Eastern Star Chapter #64, Federalsburg. In her free time, she enjoyed painting, working puzzles, watching the Orioles, and spending time with her family and grandchildren.

She is survived by her husband of 60 years, Robert Edgell of Federalsburg; one son: Dana Edgell and his wife Lisa of Federalsburg; two grandchildren: Ryan Edgell and his wife Jeanna of Ocean Pines; and Casey O’Bier and her husband Michael of Seaford; one great-grandson: Liam O’Bier; and a cousin Howard Records and his wife Imogene.

In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by a sister Anna Louise Hall, one sister-in-law Gladys McDorman and two brothers-in-law: Ira E. Hall and O.W. McDorman.

Graveside services were held on Tuesday, Dec. 5 at Laurel Hills Cemetery in Laurel.
