Elizabeth Dilworth “Betty” Pastula passed away on Dec. 23, 2022 at Christiana Care Hospital in Wilmington. She had been a patient at Regal Heights Rehabilitation and Nursing Home/ Vitas Hospice for several months prior for medical issues.

Betty was born in Richmond, Va. on March 3, 1939 to Charles and Elizabeth Lane. She was one of 14 children in the family. She attended Delaware schools and graduated from Millsboro High School. Upon graduation, she served for the United States Air Force from 1959-1961.  During this time, she met and married Thomas Pastula. Upon being honorably discharged from the military, they made their home for a number of years in the Cleveland, Ohio area. They raised four children, Betsy Truby (husband Mike), Frannie Phillips (husband Larry), Trevor Pastula (wife Jamie) and Tracy Lee (husband Barry).

Betty and Tom have several grandchildren; Eric Truby, Jordan Saliva, Zachary Phillips, Zoe Phillips, Richard Pastula, Sierra Pastula, Aubrey Pastula, Lizzie Pastula, Christian Pastula, Hannah Lee, Darby Sears and Madison Lee. They also have two great-grandchildren; Kamryn Holland and Gonzo Saliva.

The family moved to Delaware in August 1976, where Betty started her cake decorating business. She had taken classes and decided to start selling cake decorating supplies and teaching classes on her own. She opened House of Elizabeth and spent over 40 years instructing students and decorating cakes for the community.  

In her spare time she was a member of St. Francis de Sales Church/Holy Redeemer Church. She loved to shop and spend time with her grandkids.  She had the most caring, giving personality and was always helping someone else. She was often sending donations to charities to help with their causes.  

Preceding her in death are her parents, Charles and Elizabeth Lane, and her husband, Thomas Pastula, as well as several brothers and sisters.

Services will be held in the spring. She will be cremated and sent to rest at the Delaware Veterans Memorial Cemetery in Millsboro. Contributions can be made on her behalf to Vitas Hospice 100 Commerce Drive, Suite 302, Newark, Delaware 19713.
