Born in Seaford on Aug. 14, 1966, Doug departed this life to be with the Lord on April 4, 2023. He is survived by his mother, Betty J. Richardson Bounds; sister Andrea L. Figgs and her husband, Donnie; a daughter, Elyssa Ferguson and his son, Tyler Bounds. He also leaves behind his fiancée, Carole A. Hubbard of Greenwood, as well as two grandchildren, and his beloved pet, Boo Boo. Also surviving are his nephew and his wife, Justin and Angela Figgs and great nephew, Noah and great niece, Nevaeh Holcomb. He also leaves behind several aunts, uncles and cousins.

Doug was a faithful member of the Christian Church of Seaford as well as a previous member of the Gateway Christian Church.

After returning from service in the military as a Military Police Officer in Lawton, OK, he went to work for and retired from the Department of Corrections. Doug will be remembered for his generous spirit and giving heart. He was known by many to be forgiving in nature and, even though he was a man of humble means, he would share whatever he had to a person in need. His favorite expression was “pay it forward” which he did many, many times. He will long be remembered for the burden he assumed after the death of his father, Henry, as he accepted the role of protector for his mother and strove to insure that her life continued to be one of fulfillment and comfort.

In addition to his father, he was preceded in death by his brother Ronald Bounds, his maternal and paternal grandparents and several uncles. Contributions may be made in Douglas Bounds honor to the Christian Church of Seaford, 22581 Sussex Hwy., Seaford, Delaware 19973.

A viewing was held on Wednesday, April 12 at the Christian Church of Seaford. A funeral service followed with Pastor Chris Maddox officiating. Interment followed in Odd Fellows Cemetery in Laurel.
