Donald “Don” F. Kampe of Seaford passed away on Sunday, July 17, 2022, at St. Francis Hospital, in Wilmington. He was born in Easton, Md. on Aug. 18, 1947, son of the late Eugene Kampe and Dorothy (Fretterd) Kampe.

Don began his school career in Greenwood, but made the move to the Seaford School District in third grade. The members of the Seaford senior class of 1965 became lifelong, dear friends to him. Reminiscing of friends, his beloved Mercury Comet, and music of the time was something he always enjoyed. After graduating, Don worked various jobs until joining L.U. 782 IN 1972 as a plumber pipefitter. An unparalleled work ethic lead to eventually starting his own plumbing business, C & K Mechanical.  Soon after, in 1974, Don married his best friend, Cora. Even after parting ways, they remained friends.

Nearly 10 years ago, Don committed himself to sobriety. Being a part of the AA community was something he cherished and took great pride in. Don could often be found sitting in a meeting sharing his story, and he looked forward to celebrating 10 years in August. When not attending a meeting, he was most likely in his shed scrapping metal.

Don had many interests and hobbies. He was an avid outdoorsman and took advantage of everything that nature had to offer. A kindhearted spirit with a charitable nature, Don always lent a helping hand to any friend in need. The saying “give the shirt off your back” could have been quoted for him;  he was always just a call away. Don was blessed with many wonderful people in his life. His relationship with his daughter, Krystin, was extraordinarily special. Loved by many, he will be deeply and genuinely missed by all who had the good fortune to know him.

Don is survived by his children: Krystin (Eddie), Kari Lleras (Mark), and Donald Denisea; his grandsons, Cash Cay, Ian Sullivan, and Christopher Lleras; his sister, Terry; his nephews, Randy and Michael; and his many dear friends.

A celebration of life will be announced at a later date. Arrangements have been entrusted to Parsell Funeral Homes and Crematorium, Hardesty Chapel in Bridgeville.
