David Ricks, farmer and lifelong resident of Seaford, went to be with his Lord and Savior, Jesus Christ, on Friday, Feb. 24, 2023.

David is survived by his loving wife of six years, Marie Danielle Ricks; his beloved children, Bentley Dean Ricks and Brantley David Ricks; his sister, Debbie Ricks Olsen and her husband Scott; his brothers Dean Ricks and his wife Stacy, and Bill Ricks and his wife Pris; his nephews Justin Wainwright and his fiancée Kelsey Vonlehmden (son Jaxson Wainwright), Jonathan Wainwright, and Garrett Olsen and his niece Megan Ricks. He was predeceased by his grandparents, Earl Tull and Elsie Tull and Edgar Thomas Ricks and Elsie Mae Honeycutt, and his parents William Perrin Ricks and Jean Elaine (Tull) Ricks.

David was born on May 25, 1965 in Seaford. He graduated from Seaford High School and studied at Delaware Technical Community College.

David was a devoted, loving husband and father who enjoyed spending time outdoors and at the beach. He was passionate about music and working with his hands but what he loved more than anything else was his wife and his two boys. He dedicated his time teaching Bentley and Brantley traits they could use when they become young men, and the pride for them as they learned these skills lit up his face and was awe-inspiring. David’s kind heart and gentle soul is reflected in the love for him by so many in the Seaford community and throughout Sussex County.

A celebration of his life will be held on Sunday, March 5 at Wesley United Methodist Church in Seaford. Visitation will be at 1 p.m. with services at 2 p.m. Interment to follow at Odd Fellows Cemetery.

In lieu of flowers David’s family asks for donations for funeral expenses. To leave a condolence visit www.cranstonfuneralhome.com.
