David James Hitch of Seaford passed away on Sunday, March 13, 2022 at his home. He was born on Jan. 19, 1947 in Laurel, son of the late Rufus and Irene Hitch.

Mr. Hitch was a proud veteran, having honorably served in the U.S. Navy, aboard the USS Lexington. A courier, he retired from the Delaware Authority for Regional Transit after several dedicated years. Mr. Hitch was a country music fan and enjoyed watching old western movies. He cherished time spent with family, above all.  Mr. Hitch was a loving and devoted stepfather, brother, uncle, and friend. He will be deeply missed by all who had the good fortune to know him.

In addition to his parents, Mr. Hitch was preceded in death by his beloved wife of 40 years, Barbara Hitch; his stepdaughter, Kay Passwaters; his brothers, Burton Wayne Hitch and Rufus “Harry” Hitch; and his sister, Mary Elizabeth Connor. He is survived by his stepsons, Gary Turner of Georgetown, Wayne Turner of Burke, VA, and Brian Turner of Laurel; his brother, Robert George Hitch of Laurel; his sister, Joanne Brown of Laurel; and his loyal and adored canine companion, Oliver.

Services will be private. Final care has been entrusted to Watson-Yates Funeral Home, a Parsell Family Funeral Home, Seaford, DE.
