Claude Linwood Massey Jr., loving father and devoted husband, of Seaford passed away peacefully at home on Sunday, May 21, 2023.
He was born on July 20, 1935 in Seaford, the son of the late Claude and Florence (Duncan) Massey.
Claude had a long career working for the state of Delaware Department of Corrections as a Correctional Officer, serving for over 38 years, retiring at the rank of Captain in 1994. Claude continued to serve the state after his retirement from corrections, acting as a Governor-Appointed public member of the Delaware Pharmacy Board and the Department of Corrections IRCB Board for several years. He was very proud of his public service.
Claude was a member of the Seaford Hiram #21 Masonic Lodge and the Seaford Elks Lodge for over 50 years. In his free time, he enjoyed fishing, target shooting, and cruising around in his Ford Mustang.
Claude was preceded in death by his wife, Patricia in 2022 after 46 years of marriage. He is survived by his only child (son), Claude T. Massey III of Seaford, his brother Robert Massey, as well as several nieces and nephews.
