Charles Brian Cordrey passed away on Tuesday, Oct. 25, 2022, at the Delmar Nursing and Rehabilitation Center. Brian was the son of the late Charles W. and Norma Jane Cordrey.

Brian graduated from Delmar High School in 1960 and from Salisbury State Teacher’s College in 1964. He went on to do graduate studies at American University, George Washington University and the University of North Carolina at Chapel Hill, ultimately receiving two master’s degrees, plus 30 hours.

Upon graduation from Salisbury State Teacher’s College, Brian taught biology and earth science in LaPlata, Maryland for four years. He then moved back to Delmar and accepted a teaching position at James M. Bennett and later at Parkside in Salisbury, retiring from teaching with 30 years of service.

Brian had many interests. As a long time, faithful member of St. Stephen’s United Methodist Church in Delmar he loved singing in the choir for many years. He was a friend of the Delmar Library and an avid stamp collector, winning many competitions over the years. Brian was devoted to his family, affording his parents independence in their home until their passing. He will be remembered for the kindness he showed everyone, his willingness to do anything for anyone and his warm smile and hugs.

He is survived by his brother, Jeff Cordrey and his wife Susan of Seaford.

A visitation for family and friends was held on Tuesday, Nov. 1, at St. Stephen’s United Methodist Church in Delmar, followed by a funeral service. The Reverend Phyllis Walton officiated. Interment was at St. Stephen’s Cemetery in Delmar.

Memorial contributions may be made in Brian’s honor to St. Stephen’s United Methodist Church, 101 E. State Street, Delmar, DE 19940.
