Carroll “Buddy” Eugene Ketterman of Seaford passed away on Wednesday, Dec. 6, 2023. He was born on Dec. 2, 1946, in the small country town of Onego, West Virginia to Marietta Ketterman Simmons and Josiah Ketterman.

After graduating from North Hagerstown High School in Hagerstown, he pursued a career in the field of plumbing. His skills and interest for precision allowed him to earn his license as a Master Plumber and own his own business, Ketterman’s Plumbing. Buddy took a great deal of pride in his work and gained a respected reputation in the construction industry.

If you ever had a question regarding hunting or fishing Buddy was your resource. When he had free time, he was either getting ready to go hunting or fishing or he was hunting or fishing. His love for the outdoors allowed him to feel as comfortable in a deer stand as in a trout stream. This interest in nature was shared with his sons, Joe and Brett.

Buddy was very proud of his West Virginia heritage and could be found organizing his day around West Virginia Mountaineer games. He was equally as proud of his family and his favorite role was that of a granddad.

Buddy was preceded in death by his parents and sisters, Patty Jones of Richmond, Va., and Mary Jo Ferruzza of Chicago, IL. He is survived by a sister, Pamela Ketterman-Stevens and husband David of Hagerstown, and brother, Willie Simmons Jr. and wife Lesley of Mechanicsville, Va.; son, Joe Ketterman and fiancée Holly Noel of Seaford and daughters, Kelsey Ketterman of Washington, D.C. and Baylee Ketterman of Seaford; son, Brett Ketterman, wife, Jennifer and children Bethany and Jesse of Seaford. He is also survived by many nieces, nephews, and cousins.

Services for Carroll “Buddy” were held on Monday, Dec. 11 at Gethsemane Church in Seaford where he had been a member for over 50 years.

In lieu of flowers, donations may be made to Gethsemane Church, 2701 Woodland Ferry Road, Seaford, DE 19973 or Delaware Hospice, 100 Patriots Way, Milford, DE 19963.
