Burton S. Brittingham of Laurel passed away on July 26, 2022 surrounded by his family at TidalHealth PRMC in Salisbury. Born on May 30, 1949, Burton was the son of the late Philip B. Brittingham and Mary Catherine Brittingham. Burton graduated from Laurel High School with the class of 1967. In 1968, he began his 35-year career with Delmarva Power from which he retired in 2004 and then continued his passion as a farmer.
Burton also served for five years in the Delaware National Guard in the 70s. He was a member of the Laurel Alumni Association, the Delaware Farm Bureau, and the Delmarva Power Vingt Cinq Club.
Burton is survived by his wife Lora Brittingham; daughters, Abby Whaley (David) and Amanda Brittingham (Fiancé Justin Boyce); grandsons, Austin Oddo and Callen Whaley; brothers-in-law, Marty Rogers (Elaine) and Tim Rogers (Linda); sister-in-law Sue Uszak (Jon); and nieces, Jenny Hastings (Phillip) and Kenzie Callaway (A.C.) and their families.
In lieu of flowers, the family suggest memorial contributions be made to the Laurel Alumni Association, PO Box 382, Laurel, Delaware 19956. Arrangements are in the care of the Hannigan, Short, Disharoon Funeral Home in Laurel.
