Barbara Quick Smith of Laurel passed away on July 4, 2022 at her home surrounded by her loving family. Born in Seaford, she was the daughter of the late Gilbert Quick and Evelyn Mitchell Quick. After graduation, she began her career in the administration office of the Manhattan Sewing Factory, and later worked in the administration offices at the Laurel School District. Her gift for never meeting a stranger and having a magnetic personality fit her well for her last career as a realtor. She began her career in real estate with Bob Durham at Laurel Realty. 

She was a member of the Laurel Garden Club, Laurel Historical Society, and the Delaware Association of Realtors. Barbara enjoyed gardening, shopping at Boscov’s, and making friends wherever she traveled. 

She is survived by her husband, Wayne Smith; daughters, Shelley Dayton and her husband John, Tracy Smith, and Donna Breasure and her husband Bobby; grandchildren, Cole Dayton, Lucas Dayton, and Brandon Breasure; several nieces and nephews and her furbaby “Suzy,” In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by her brother, James Quick. 

A celebration of life will be held at noon on Saturday, Aug. 6 at Hannigan, Short, Disharoon Funeral Home, 700 West Street, Laurel, Delaware 19956. Pastor Joyce Vincent will officiate. The family would like to give a special heartfelt thanks to Joyce Vincent for being a wonderful life-long friend, and they would also like to give a special thanks to Vitas Hospice for their kind and compassionate care. Arrangements are in the care of the Hannigan, Short, Disharoon Funeral Home in Laurel.
