Barbara Jane (Barb) Brown passed peacefully away on Tuesday, March 8, 2022 at her home surrounded by her son, Roger, daughter-in-law, Maria, and caring VITAS hospice care professionals. Barb was born in Cannon and recently celebrated her 87th birthday with her immediate family and two surviving sisters from Tennessee. She was the adoptive daughter of the late Paul A. Roosa and Marydel O’Neal of Wilmington.

Barb is survived by her sons, Roger Joseph and wife Maria of Seaford and Ricky Goodale and partner Laura Johnston of North Carolina; seven grandchildren, Gary Smith, Dustin Joseph, Timothy Smith, Eden Donahue, Michael Joseph, Jessica and Tara Goodale; and 10 great-grandchildren.

In addition to her adoptive parents, Barb was preceded in death by her natural mother, Helen O’Neal, husbands, Tom Goodale (30 years) and Harold (Keast) Brown (11 years), daughter, Brenda J. (BJ) Smith and sister Doris Glenn.

Mom will always be remembered for her love of bling-bling and fashion items of her favorite color, red. She loved the beach and instilled that love to her kids and grandchildren. Mom also donated her body for medical education and research to the Maryland State Anatomy Board. A combined celebration of life for her and Keast will be planned in late May or June.

Our hearts are saddened but we rejoice knowing she is in heaven with other loved ones who left this world before her. Monetary donations in memory of Barb can be sent to VITAS Hospice Care, 30265 Commerce Dr., Suite 202, Millsboro, DE 19966.
